‘Crystals’ is a poetic distillation, a passionate homage to the Light that, in an extreme outburst of love, imprisons itself in the densest matter: the mineral state. In these syllogues, the infinite embrace of Spirit and Matter is celebrated, the paradox of splendour blossoming from the darkest despair. Almost every poem sings of a purified pain, a heavy compound that is worked, refined and made transparent. The crystal becomes the emblem of a silenced music, a sonority arrested and yet capable of reflecting the luminous rays by which it is permeated. The poetic word thus aspires to recover that redeeming power, that vital transmission that reawakens the symphonic soul of creation, making it capable of manifesting beauty beyond all apparent imperfection.
The book is divided into three sections: one part composed of Haiku and Tanka, traditional forms of Japanese lyric poetry, another made up of ‘crystalline’ poems that trace the parable of the progressive obscuration of the Spirit in Matter until its final rebirth and, in closing, the song-poems, which dissolve all friction and suffering into music.
